Held Laptop Sleeve by Hard Graft

Hard Graft has a line of fashionable products that cater to the Apple crowd. All of the products are made from leather and wool, but my favorite detail is the herringbone pattern elastic, used for the straps.

Glissade Desk by Meta

The Glissade desk by Meta is a great solution for a clutter-free and visually light-weight desktop. Be sure to look at the special edition in Bog Oak.

DIY Lamborghini

Ken Imhoff is a hero. He loved the Lamborghini Countach so much that he made his own, by hand, in his basement. It took him ten years to complete, and once it was finished he had to dig a huge hole in his yard and knock down the basement wall to extract the car. Read the article here.

Cold War Modern – Dieter Rams

“As a designer you have to be an optimist, otherwise you should not stay as a designer anymore.” -Dieter Rams

As part of the Cold War Modern exhibition, the Victoria and Albert Museum created a microsite featuring several informative videos. Check out the video featuring Dieter Rams, one of the most influential product designers ever. Many of Jonathan Ive’s (Apple product designer) designs bear a striking resemblance to those of Rams.

Clay Car Mockups

Car mockups are incredible. This is the stage in automobile development which relies completely on the human interpretation of the design, as opposed to the mathematical representation created by CAD programs. Oobject has some great photos of clay mockups in progress.

Typewriter Ribbon Tins

Take a look at this great collection of typewriter tins on Flickr.

Calvin Klein Furniture

Calvin Klein recently wrapped up his new home furniture line. Based in Soho, and available through Macy’s, the collection boasts a look that has not only a modern appeal, but also a very warm feel for those who aren’t die-hard minimalists. Via Wallpaper.

Atocha Design – Record Cabinet

This cabinet is any crate digger’s dream-come-true. Atocha Design, in New York, makes these items to order with any variety of drawer-size combinations. Via Notcot.org (Thanks, Joel)

Papercraft Kalishnikov

I’m definitely not a gun enthusiast, but there is something undeniably appealing about this stark white AK-47 paper replica. Gestalten (site takes a long time to load) has been selling this item for a while, but until recently, they didn’t ship to the U.S. Now that they do, I know what I’m asking for on my birthday.
