Portfolio: Evening Tweed
Evening Tweed is a collective comprised of four graduates from the University of Brighton. They have an outstanding body of work. I particularly like the On The Road book cover by Jez Burrows.

Phil Yamada created an entire alphabet by painting directly on top of printed newspapers. The result is stunning, due to the variety of innovative letterforms that Yamada presents, some of which are a nod to pop culture (Pac-Man and A Clockwork Orange). The way that the newsprint contracted from the moisture of the paint also gives the pieces an attractive texture.

Lately, I’ve been seeing really great letterpress prints popping up left and right. After seeing StudioOnFire’s blog, I’ve officially caught the letterpress bug. A lot of great designers have used SOF’s services, so their portfolio shows plenty of great possibilities within the medium. I personally like how bold typefaces look when letterpressed. Pictured above is a one color invite by Eight Hour Day.

Nicholas Felton has the most creative solutions for information graphics that I’ve seen. His current web project, Daytum, is a way to track any given aspect of your life, and is also beautifully designed.
Zip Design has a great portfolio. I particularly like their collaboration with Alex Trochut on The Rolling Stones‘ Rolled Gold album, as well as their contemporary brand image for Tom Jones.

Ted McGrath’s work has a definite post-punk aesthetic. There are lots of collaged illustrations and xerox zines. I particularly like the editorial series for Esquire Russia, featuring actor Ralph Fiennes.
Thanks Aaron.
Dane Lovett has a style that can be described as both loose and meticulous. Color, applied in large brush strokes, is contrasted nicely by the detail in the letterforms, logos, and facial features. This contrast provides a hazy dimensionality, which is consistent throughout Lovett’s portfolio.

The Rainbowmonkey has executed various thoughtful and experimental design projects. Pictured is a selection from the Splitworld project, which explores polygonal distortion.
Via Design is Kinky.
