Iceland-born illustrator Siggi Eggertson’s work is tough to categorize. It’s similar to pixel art, with the repetition of various colored shapes being used to create a larger image. However, unlike pixel art, Eggertsson utilizes the shapes created by overlapping forms as details in his complex and beautiful illustrations.

Toca Me is a design studio that also organizes design events. They’ve got an impressive title sequence, which is the result of a collaborative effort by DVEIN and Alex Trochut. The sequence is a combination of CGI and actual footage of melting material. The DVEIN site has some great process photographs of the monograms being sculpted from what appears to be styrofoam.

Middle Tennessee State University’s seniors have launched the site for their upcoming show. The reality TV concept for the site was executed wonderfully, featuring great photography and motion graphics. I’m definitely interested in seeing what this semester’s group has to offer. In a collaboration with Asics, Mabona Origami created the concept for their corporate history. Each moment in the shoe company’s history is symbolized by a different origami creation. It’s quite an inspiring video.

The 1stAveMachine site is the most appropriate use of full-screen Flash video that I’ve ever seen. The type is minimal and there’s great negative space and color in the videos, which can all be set to run as the background for the site. I really like the video produced for Woodhands‘ song, I Wasn’t Made For Fighting.

The scene titles for the latest James Bond installment (by Tomato) are a lot of fun. It’s a kind of rule that typography should be consistent throughout a project, and I’ve heard people bash these titles for this reason, in one way or another. However, all rules should be reconsidered on a per-project basis in order to stay conceptually limber. The various fonts are, to me, a nod the 70’s era Bond films which were often regionally theme-based, from the music to the typography.
